Glen Echo Amusement Park Postcards

Real Photo Postcards

Almost from the first, Glen Echo used postcards to promote the park. The earliest cards were "Real Photo Cards", cards printed on photograpic paper. Real Photo cards continued for many years as specials, but were mainly replaced by lithographed cards around 1908. For a brief overview of the various types of postcards click HERE.

Real Photo Studio Postcards

From its earliest years Glen Echo had a photographic studio in the park. Visitors would visit the studio, have their photo taken and then come back later in teh day to pick up the photo. At various times the studio used backdrops that reflected current events; at other times they used a simple scenic backdrop.
